Juniors can join the Hamilton Golf Club as a school member generally from the age of 8 to 17 years at a cost of $165.00. Junior Golf takes place all year round, however the program is effectively divided into two parts. In the summer terms 1 and 4 Junior sessions take place on a Tuesday from 4-5.30 p.m. Players are grouped according to age and ability wherever possible and are well supervised by the club coaches and volunteers.
Coaching clinics for beginners and existing members are run each term by the club professional.
In the winter terms (two and three) tee times, where possible, are made available on a Sunday morning - generally from 9.00 a.m. for juniors to play 18 holes. Players need to book online or ring the Pro Shop to book a tee time and check into the Pro Shop on arrival.
There is also an opportunity for 9 hole players or those trying to get a handicap to play on Sunday mornings, however, they must be accompanied by a parent or adult. The Club/Junior Convenors take no responsibility for unsupervised 9 hole players.
Juniors are permitted on the course by checking the course availability through the Pro Shop. Saturday play is not available before 3.00 p.m.
Other opportunities for Junior play within the club program include:
Junior Pennant Play (February to June)
18 Hole tournament (July school holidays)
School Boy/Girl Club Championships (September school holidays)
Family Ambrose (December)
Juniors are expected to abide by the Rules and Dress Standards of the Club. The club operates a ‘Green Card’ system whereby Juniors earn the right to play unsupervised on the course. Generally juniors with 18 hole handicaps are issued with a Green Card which must be displayed on their bag at all times. Others may also be issued with a Green Card and should discuss their eligibility with the Junior Convenor or Club Manager.
